About Jillzy

I graduated from Columbus State Community College with a Sign Language Interpreting/Transliterating degree. I've interpreted for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind for six years before I decided to resign and stay home to raise my family. I got to experience many unique situations while interpreting such as court settings, labor and delivery, surgery, large conferences, job coaching and stage drama. I also taught sign language to children and adults.

I ran a daycare in my home for three years. Those three years were very rewarding and a lot of fun. Even a rough day at home with six kids was far better than a good day at the office. I miss those babysitting days but I'm too busy raising my family to miss it too much.

Since I can't ever seem to sit still, I started writing for Yahoo! Voices in March 2011. I've written over 200 articles on parenting, crafts, poetry and many other topics. I have been blogging for two years now, and as my life constantly changes with new challenges, so does my blog. I also went into business with my mom decorating invitations and announcements for all of life's milestones, called "Keepsakes by Judy" and "Keepsakes by Jill". You can see a slideshow of those keepsakes at the top.

My husband is a Battalion Chief for the fire department. We got married in September 2001 and we have two daughters together.  I have 4 stepchildren (well, they aren't children anymore), two daughters-in-law, two granddaughters and one grandson. You'll find various topics on my blog for crafts, Christian devotions, parenting topics, recipes and so much more. Thank you for visiting All About Jillzy!
